Abstract
In this contribution, we report on the preparation of Mo-B-C coatings by pulsed DC. In addition to nanolaminated grains the principle of enhancement of the coating mechanical properties via preparing them in the nanocomposite form will be shown. The effect of the coating composition and the structure on their mechanical properties will be described. The deposition of W-B-C coatings will be also reported. This system was chosen as crystalline W2BC should exhibit mechanical properties than Mo2BC. However, this comes at the cost of phase stability of the W2BC phase presenting an obstacle for the real-life deposition.
