Abstract
The presentation was an introduction of the research for my dissertation. I introduced the problems usually perceived in connection with derivative literature and I gave an example how the Heian classic The Tale of Genji was paraphrased in two Edo period popular works of fiction: Furyu Genji monogatari and Nise Murasaki inaka Genji. Comparing the two paraphrases, I was able to point out some creative strategies applied in both works.
