Abstract
The aim of this paper is to identify differences between classical approaches to the creation and investment of technical provisions and the approaches resulting from the implementation of the Solvency II Regulatory Directive into insurance markets in the European Union member states. With regard to the interpreting the results of the analyses, the subsequent aim of this paper is to draw specific conclusions to evaluate the adequacy of the creation and investment of technical provisions in selected commercial insurance companies operating on the Czech insurance market and to propose recommendations in the case of identified deficiencies.
