Abstract
The paper aims to research types of conflicts present in magic in antiquity by comparing the Latin curse tablets and Greek magical papyri. Four areas of conflicts have been observed - conflicts in love, agonistic conflicts, legal conflicts and conflicts with thieves. The paper compares the portrayal of these topics in the Latin curse tablets and Greek magical papyri and tries to answer the question why did people turn to magic specifically regarding these types of conflict.
