Abstract

Přednáška postupně představuje: (1) Singerův hypotetický příklad s topícím se dítětem, (2) argument, jehož obecná premisa vyplývá z tohoto příkladu, (3) jak bychom měli podle Singera jednat a (4) proč bychom se tím měli řídit, tj. proč bychom měli jednat morálně. Hypotetický příklad zkoumá naše intuice ohledně naší morální povinnosti. Tuto povinnost vůči potřebným formuluje Peter Singer také v závěru své argumentace a dále uvádí důvody, proč bychom měli jednat v souladu s touto povinností i navzdory tomu, že na nás Singerova etika klade vysoké požadavky.

Abstract (in English)

The lecture introduces following topics step by step: (1) Singer´s hypothetical example with a drowning child, (2) an argument depending on that example, (3) how we should act, according to Singer, and (4) why we should act morally. The hypothetical example examines our intuitions about our moral obligation toward strangers in need. This obligation is also formulated by Peter Singer as the conclusion of his argumentation. Then, Singer gives us a reason for why act morally, even if his ethics demands too much from us.
