Kapitola se zabývá otázkou, jakým způsobem organizují svůj čas a prostor lidé, kteří žijí sami, skupina velmi různorodá, od lidí, kteří zůstávají sami dobrovolně, po ty, kteří žijí sami shodou okolností, jež mohli ovlivnit pouze částečně nebo vůbec ne. Kapitola je rozdělena do dvou částí, které se zaměřují na dva různé aspekty časoprostorové zkušenosti sólistů: V první části na jejich geografii v minimálním měřítku bytu či domu. Ve druhé části pak na prožívání městského prostoru, který je sólisty často vnímán jako komplementární složka domova doplňující domácí geografie. Tato část se věnuje organizaci času sólistů, která silně souvisí s prací, jež vykonávají. Text ukazuje, že klíčovou otázkou pro sólisty není organizace prostoru, ale právě organizace jejich času.

The chapter deals with how people living alone organize their time and space. The “solist”, people who live alone, constitute a very diverse group: people who remain voluntarily, those who live by their own circumstances, who can only partially or at all not influence them. The chapter is divided into two parts that focus on two different aspects of the time-space experience of soloists: In its first part the chapter focuses on their geography in the minimal scale of an apartment or house. In the second part, on the experience of urban space, which is often seen by soloists as a complementary component of their home: the city and the flats are a unique continuum. This section also deals with the organization of soloists' time, which is strongly related to the work they perform. The text shows that the key issue for soloists is not the organization of space, but the organization of their time.
