Boltanski y Chiapello han señalado que la condición necesaria para que «los grandes» pongan en práctica y disfruten del valor de la movilidad, inherente a las nuevas sociedades globalizadas e interconectadas, es la debilidad de «los pequeños», su inmovilidad. García Canclini desarrolla esta observación con acierto al aplicarla a las sociedades latinoamericanas: "Los pequeños o localizados son los «dobles» indispensables para el nomadismo y el enriquecimiento de los grandes." Esta «otra cara» de la movilidad y el nomadismo es la que encontramos tematizada con más frecuencia en el teatro mexicano contemporáneo. La imposibilidad de desplazarse y superar las limitaciones del espacio cultural propio, contrapuesta a la fascinación de un mundo aparentemente interconectado y asequible, aparece en piezas de Legom, o de Alejandro Ricaño.
