Abstract

Una de las relativamente nuevas ramas de la lingüística es la lexicografía, y con ella la crítica lexicográfica. El hecho de que la crítica esté reconocida recientemente como método de investigación, no significa que en la historia no haya habido comentarios acerca de la producción lexicográfica. La producción cuyo eje, guste o no, lidera el Diccionario de la Real Academia Española. Sobre el diccionario académico se ha derramado mucha tinta ya, pero aún así la sociedad o los estudiosos no dejan de criticar este diccionario y el público interesado no se cansa de leer sobre el tema. La pregunta a la que pretendemos dar respuesta y/o, por lo menos, con la que esperamos abrir un debate es ¿qué utilidad ha tenido la crítica de los diccionarios? ¿Se ha hecho uso de ella? Y, más en concreto, ¿tiene utilidad la que está centrada en el Diccionario de la RAE?

Abstract (in English)

One of the relatively new branches of linguistics is the lexicography, most specifically the dictionary criticism. The recognition of the dictionary criticism like an investigation method does not indicate that in the past there were no commentaries about the lexicographic production. In Spanish area the production has been leaded, whether we like it or not, by the Royal Spanish Academy. It´s been very common to talk about the royal dictionary and even today the society and the scientist are not tired to criticize the dictionary and the audience is not tired of reading about the topic. The question we are trying to answer or, at least, open the discussion is: Does the dictionary criticism have any use? Have their results been put in practice? And, more specifically, is the criticism focused on the academic dictionary useful?
