TY - CONF ID - 1572898 AU - Stodola, Jiří PY - 2019 TI - Principles and dilemmas of information ethics with regard to the problem of disinformation SN - 9788022348034 KW - information ethics KW - principles KW - dilemmas KW - information KW - disinformation KW - freedom of speech KW - right to information KW - censorship N2 - At present, disinformation campaigns, which are mainly associated with so-called alternative internet media, are widely debated. It seems that a force solution to the disinformation problem consisting in forbidding or stigmatizing these media often conflicts with one of the pillars of Western democracy, – the right to freedom of speech –, as it potentially opens space for targeted censorship. Spreading of disinformation on the part of these media, on the other hand, restricts the right of users to information because they are offered as information something that, as a matter of fact, is not likely to be information. Is it possible to find such principles of information ethics, that effectively solve a possible collision between these rights without violating any of these rights, and can they be used to solve the problem associated with the problem of disinformation?
