Abstract

V originále

Over the past decade there has been an increase in the awareness and recognition of autism in the Czech Republic. Even with this rise, practices for diagnosis are still in their infancy, only being seen within the last 30 years. Therefore, it is not surprising that areas like education and treatment are too lagging. Even with the late introduction of diagnostic practices, the Czech Republic has made applied behavior analysis (ABA) part of the conversation surrounding treatment. This introduction has been minimal, though, with the availability of ABA services being scarce. The presence of the science of behavior in the Czech Republic is in a state of growth. However, the full impact of this maturation is relatively unknown. Therefore, the aim of this investigation was to look closer at the applications of ABA in this region by conducting a preliminary assessment on the recent expansion of the science. Preliminary results indicate that parents play an integral role in the service delivery model; but that there are current gaps in data collection, assessment, and curriculum development. This valuable information can be used to drive future practitioner curriculum in the area.
