V originále
Relations between Byzantium and central Europe were always complex and complicated. During 11th and 12th centuries the dominant power in the Carpathian basin was the newly founded Hungarian kingdom. The Byzantines strived to maintain good diplomatic relations with the Hungarians, because of the common interests of both states in the area of the middle Danube and also common defense against the nomadic peoples of the steppe. This cooperation lasted until the end of the 12th century.
In Czech
Vzťahy Byzantskej ríše s oblasťou strednej Európy boli vždy bohaté a komplikované. Táto spolupráca vydržala približne do konca 12. storočia.
