Abstract

Çok iyi taninan Alexiad, zamaninda Anna Komnene’nin ‘tam’ yazarligina ilişkin tartişmalarin artmasina neden olmuşsa da, sonuç itibariyla bu alanda oldukça kiymetli bir kaynagi durumundadir. Bu makalede, babasi Imparator Alexios Komnenos’un (1081-1118) Iskitlerle (Peçeneklerle) yaptigi savaşla baglantili olarak verdigi bilgilerin kesinlik ve kiymeti degerlendirilmeye çalişilmaktadir. Yazar ayrica zamaninda olaylarin gidişatini karartabilme ve geriye yönelik dogru bir şekilde yorumlanabilmelerini zorlaştirabilecek bazi kronolojik olaylara da yer vermiştir. Anna Komnene’nin anlatisinda mevcut olan tutarsizliklardan ötürü, olaylarin kronolojik dizilişini yapmak büyük bir önem kazanmaktadir. Neticede yazar, bu makalenin ilerleyen bölümlerinde yer alan bulgular dogrultusunda Peçeneklere karşi yapilan savaşin kisa bir tanimlamasini sunmaktadir.

Abstract (in Czech)

Dílo Alexias sepsané Annou Komnénou je mezi většinou badatelů v oblasti dějin Byzantské říše velmi známé. Občas se stává důvodem kontroverzních diskuzí (naposledy v souvislosti s „plným“ autorstvím byzantské princezny), ale přesto je cenným zdrojem informací. Cílem tohoto příspěvku je ukázat, jak detailní a do jaké míry přesné jsou informace, které se týkají války Alexia Komnéna (1081-1118) proti Pečenehům (Skýtům). Zabývám se také chronologickými otázkami, protože tyto občas text znejasňují a ztěžují umístění konkrétních historických událostí do jejich správného kontextu. V Annině textu najdeme mnoho nedokonalostí podobného typu, proto je důležité nastolit znovu jasnou chronologickou posloupnost jednotlivých událostí. V závěru je krátký popis příběhu války proti Pečenehům, který je podložený závěry z předcházejících částí tohoto příspěvku.

Abstract (in English)

The Alexiad by Anna Komnene is well-known to most Byzantine history scholars. At times it raises controversial issues (e.g. concerning "full" authorship of the Byzantine princess), but all in all it represents a very valuable source of information. In this paper, I examine just how precise and valuable the pieces of information she gives us in connection with the war of her father emperor Alexios Komnenos (1081-1118) against the Scythians (the Pechenegs) are. I also partly focus on chronological issues which at times are able to "darken" the course of events and render their putting back into the right context difficult. There are many inconsistencies of this type in Anna Komnene's narrative and for these reasons, it is important to re-establish a clear succession of events. Finally, I present a concise description of the war against the Pechenegs based on the findings of the previous parts of this paper.
