Abstract
The development of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) has been considerably attributed to transmission within healthcarefacilities. Nevertheless, thelatest studies suggest that many hospital-onset CDI cases may becaused by activation of C. difficile coming from thecommunity.Theaim of this study was to comparethe distribution of ribotypes circulating in the hospital with the most prevalent ribotypes in the community to investigatetherelatedness of C. difficile across thesesettings and thesource of acquisition.
