Abstract
The lecture presents own research findings related to the area of psychology of hope and posttraumatic growth. It looks at the content and role of hope among various population groups including patients with chronical diseases. There is evidence that not only does hope have an important effect on subjective well-being in everyday life, but that it also acts as a significant protective factor during life crises. For this reason, we also discuss the role of hope in the context of illness and posttraumatic growth. Due to the significant practical implications of the phenomenon of hope, the final part of the lecture briefly addresses the hope-enhancing interventions.
