Cílem příspěvku je identifikace typických trendů ve vývoji souboru těchto nestátních teritoriálních aktérů a posouzení vlivu částečného mezinárodního uznání na jejich vnitřní funkčnost. Pro dosažení cíle byla vytvořena kvantitativní metoda hodnocení stupně vnitřní suverenity, opírající se o soustavu sedmi indikátorů a souhrnný indikátor vnitřní suverenity. Předmětem analýzy nejsou jednotlivé případy, ale soubor nezávislých států. Ten tvoří 26 entit, jejichž vývoj je hodnocen v období let 2001 – 2018. Výsledky ukázaly podmíněnost trendů vývoje v souboru nezávislých států stavem světové politiky, významný pozitivní vliv vnější podpory na vnitřní suverenitu neuznaných států, i těsný vztah mezi bezpečnostními a politickými indikátory suverenity.
