The paper focuses specifically on the English School Zlín, whose medium of instruction was Czechoslovak, English, French and German, it discusses the circumstances of the school’s foundation, existence and closure. In addition, this paper focuses on the teaching of the German language in the nineteen thirties and forties as German played an important role during this period. Germans formed the largest minority group in Czechoslovakia, and due to the subsequent German occupation, German language became a compulsory subject in schools. ER -
