Abstract
The aim of our collaboration was to combine art history with literary history in order to better understand the function and perception of ritual spaces. In our experimental cooperation, we had a look at two places of conversion located in immediate proximity: Phrygianum and the Christian basilica and baptistery, which co-existed on the Vatican Hill throughout the 4th century. Basing on literary, epigraphic and visual sources, we investigated the differences in perceived, conceived and lived ritual spaces of Christians and metroacs.
