Abstract
The aim of this presentation is to propose a reflection on the involvement of relics within the complex process of conversion in the fourth and fifth centuries – mainly in North Italy and Gallia. The starting point of the reflection are the visual, material, and political strategies put in place by Ambrose at the end of the fourth century, with the goal to assess their efficiency or inefficacy over the longue durée.
