Abstract

Kurátorsko-výzkumný projekt Black Box / Černá skříňka byl zahájen na jaře roku 2020 v době pandemie nového koronaviru. Kurátorský tým Galerie TIC formou otevřené výzvy podpořil vybrané umělce, kteří se věnovali reflexi této mimořádné situace nebo na ní participovali formou občanských iniciativ. Shromážděný soubor uměleckých děl a jejich dokumentace jsme se rozhodli prezentovat formou on-line výstavního projektu a dvojího kurátorského přístupu, jenž návštěvníkům umožní porovnat dvě interpretace vizuálních stop pandemie. V prvním případě se jedná o kurátorský kolektivní subjekt Galerie TIC (Jen milenci přežijí) a ve druhém případě jsme experimentovali s využitím kurátorského objektu v podobě umělých neuronových sítí (Nový archivář). V příspěvku jsme se zaměřili na představení postupu a výsledků práce Nového archiváře. Byl představen a zhodnocen přínos využití umělé inteligence jako interpretačního nástroje se zaměřením na problematiku inscenování výsledků kognitivních procesů ne-lidské entity.

Abstract (in English)

The Black Box curatorial research project was launched in the spring of 2020 during the new coronavirus pandemic. Its aim was to point out the problems faced by Czech visual artists at that time and to support them in their work. The curatorial team of Galerie TIC supported selected artists in the form of an open call, who reflected on this extraordinary situation or participated in it in the form of civic initiatives. We decided to present the collected set of works of art and their documentation in the form of an online exhibition project and a double curatorial approach, which will allow visitors to compare two interpretations of the visual traces of the pandemic. In the first case it is a curated collective subject of the TIC Gallery (Only lovers will survive) and in the second case we experimented with the use of a curated object in the form of artificial neural networks (New Archivist). In the presentation we focused on the procedure and results of the work of the New Archivist. We presented and evaluated the benefits of using artificial intelligence as an interpretive tool with a focus on the issue of staging the results of cognitive processes of non-human entities.
