Abstract

Bei derAusgrabungen in Břeclav-Lány (Südmähren, Tschechische Republik) haben Archäologen eine fragmentierte Rinderrippe mit Runen gefunden. Die Rippe wurde in einem frühslawischen Grubenhaus ausgegraben und ist auf ca. 600 datiert. Die Inschrift beginnt an der Bruchlinie und lautet xbemdo (wahrscheinlich tbemdo), was sechs der letzten acht Runen des älteren Futarks darstellt - es scheint, dass das verlorene Stück der Rippe den vorhergehenden Teil der Runenreihe aufwies. Es besteht Grund zu der Annahme, dass es sich bei dem Schnitzer um einen Langobarden handelte, der sich 568 nicht der Migration nach Norditalien anschloss (oder alternativ um einen Slawen, der die germanische Schrift lernte und verwendete?).

Během vykopávek v Břeclavi-Lánech (jižní Morava, Česká republika) našli archeologové fragment hovězího žebra s runami. Žebro bylo objeveno v časněslovanské jámě a je radiokarbonově datováno okolo roku 600. Nápis začíná u zlomu a čte se xbemdo (pravděpodobně tbemdo), což představuje šest z posledních osmi run staršího futarku - zdá se, že ztracený kousek žebra obsahoval předchozí část runové řady runy. Existuje důvod se domnívat, že pistatelem byl Langobard, který se v roce 568 nepřipojil k migraci do severní Itálie (nebo alternativně Slovan, který se naučil a používal germánské písmo?)

Abstract (in English)

During recent excavations at Břeclav-Lány (southern Moravia, Czech Republic), archaeologists have found a fragmented bovine rib with runes. The rib was unearthed in an early Slavic pit-house and is radiocarbon-dated to ca. 600. The inscription begins at the break line and reads xbemdo (probably tbemdo), representing six of the last eight runes of the older futark – it seems that the lost piece of the rib exhibited the preceding part of the rune row. There is reason to believe that the carver was a Langobard who did not join the migration into northern Italy in 568 (or, alternatively, a Slav who learned and used the Germanic script?)
