Abstract
The article explores the challenges arising from Brexit for Czech and Slovak EU policy-making. Based on the insights from literature on Brexit (expected) challenges and small states’ policy-making in the EU, the primary focus is on Brexit challenges within two areas of EU policy-making: 1) policy fields and 2) advocacy capacities. The main argument foregrounded in this paper is that the challenges arising from Brexit for member states’ EU policy-making are affected by two factors: 1) the country’s EU policy and 2) the country’s ties to the UK in its policy-making in the EU. Out of the two countries under scrutiny here, it is especially the Czech Republic whose EU policy-making will be challenged by Brexit.
