Abstract
Americký religionista Jefferson Calico sa dlhodobo venuje štúdiu amerických germánskych pohanov a svoje poznatky zhrnul do rozsiahlej päťstostranovej monografie Being Viking. Jeho odborný príspevok k diskusii o podobách amerického germánskeho pohanstva nie je v rámci pohanských štúdií zďaleka prvým. Prvé sa objavujú už v deväťdesiatych rokoch (napr. Jeffrey Kaplan, „Odinism and Ásatrú“, in: id., Radical Religion in America: Millenarian Movements from the Far Right to the Children Of Noah, New York: Syracuse University Press 1997, 69-99) a v roku 2015 vyšla monografia Jennifer Snookovej American Heathens: Politics of Identity in a Pagan Religious Movement, Philadelphia: Temple University Press 2015. V čom spočíva prínos Calicovej knihy? Ako rozširuje poznanie o fenoméne moderného amerického germánskeho pohanstva?
