Abstract
The paper introduced an overview of the development of the tree-model in the history of western science, then it focused on comparison of pros and cons of the traditional tree diagram and wave model. In the second part, more recent models connected to interdisciplinary approaches from Altaic studies and Southeast Asian Sprachbund were commented. Finally a new model was proposed for future elaboration.
