Abstract
V originále
The genus Flavobacterium is one of the most abundant genera in this pristine environment and thus represent an excellent object not only for basic research (taxonomy, ecology, adaptation) but also for applied sciences focusing on their cold adapted genes and enzymes. This work aimed to characterize eight Antarctic isolates assigned to the genus Flavobacterium but forming two phylogenetically separated groups. Methods of comparative genomics, phenotyping and chemotaxonomy were applied in order to confirm taxonomic novelty of these isolates. Genomic predictions and testing were further performed to characterize antibiotic resistance patterns and biosynthetic potential of these cold-adapted and highly metabolic active isolates.
