Abstract

Parmi les intellectuels québécois qui ont préparé et marqué la Révolution tranquille, Jacques Ferron (1921-1985) fait figure a part. Le décalage générationnel par rapport à l’équipe de la revue Parti pris (1963-1968) et de la plupart des révolutionnaires néonationalistes des années 1960 est ponctué de prises de position personnelles inscrites dans son œuvre : anglophile et américanophile, tout en étant attaché a la cause québécoise, défenseur du rôle historique de l’Église catholique en pleine période de laïcisation, pourfendeur du nationalisme "pure laine", francophile antifrançais, Jacques Ferron promeut l’idée du métissage correspondant au modele intégrateur de la nation (Bouchard, 2000). Comme Yves Thériault ou Gabrielle Roy, il est un des premiers a thématiser la présence des Amérindiens, des métis et des immigrés. L’idée du syncrétisme culturel se manifeste notamment dans le métissage mythopoiétique de deux romans Le Ciel de Québec (1969) et Le Saint-Élias (1972). L’analyse se concentre sur l’intégration du mythe d’"Orphée amérindien" dans l’imaginaire occidental, antique et chrétien, en fonction d’une conception nationale, synthétique de la culture et de l’écriture qui, par maints aspects devance les conceptions intégratrices des avant-gardes italo-québécoises et haïtiennes des années 1980 (revues Vice Versa, Dérives, Quaderni Culturali) ou celles de Maurizio Gatti ou Simon Harel concernant la littérature amérindienne.

Mezi quebeckými intelektuály, kteří připravili a ovlivnili tzv. Klidnou revoluci má Jacques Ferron (1921-1985) zvláštní místo. Generační propast mezi ním a týmem časopisu Parti pris (1963-1968) a většinou neonacionalistických revolucionářů 60. let se projevuje v jeho osobních postojích: je anglofil a amerikanofil, přestože se hlásí ke quebecké samostatnosti, obhajuje historickou zásluhu katolické církve v období obecné sekularizace, staví se proti nacionalismu "čistokrevných", je zaujatý proti Francii. Jacques Ferron prosazuje myšlenku míšenectví odpovídající integračnímu modelu národa (Bouchard, 2000). Stejně jako Yves Thériault a Gabrielle Roy byl jedním z prvních, kdo tematizoval přítomnost indiánů, míšenců a přistěhovalců. Myšlenka kulturního synkretismu je zvláště patrná v mýtotvorném pojetí dvou románů Le Ciel de Québec (1969) a Le Saint-Élias (1972). Analýza se zaměřuje na začlenění mýtu o "indiánském Orfeovi" do západní, antické a křesťanské imaginace, a to dle syntetického pojetí kultury a písemnictví, které v mnoha ohledech předjímá integrující koncepce italsko-quebecké a haitské avantgardy 80. let (časopisy Vice Versa, Dérives, Quaderni Culturali) nebo koncepce Maurizia Gattiho či Simona Harela týkající se indiánské literatury.

Abstract (in English)

Among the Quebec intellectuals who prepared and marked the Quiet Revolution, Jacques Ferron (1921-1985) stands out. The generational gap between him and the team of the journal Parti pris (1963-1968) and most of the neo-nationalist revolutionaries of the 1960s is punctuated by the personal positions he took in his work: Anglophile and Americanophile, while being attached to the Quebec cause, defender of the historical role of the Catholic Church in the midst of secularization, defender of "pure wool" nationalism, anti-French Francophile, Jacques Ferron promotes the idea of miscegenation corresponding to the integrating model of the nation (Bouchard, 2000). Like Yves Thériault or Gabrielle Roy, he was one of the first to thematize the presence of Amerindians, Métis and immigrants. The idea of cultural syncretism manifests itself notably in the mythopoetic crossbreeding of two novels Le Ciel de Québec (1969) and Le Saint-Élias (1972). The analysis focuses on the integration of the myth of the "Amerindian Orpheus" into the Western, ancient and Christian imagination, according to a national, synthetic conception of culture and writing which, in many respects, anticipates the integrating conceptions of the Italian-Quebecois and Haitian avant-gardes of the 1980s (Vice Versa, Dérives, Quaderni Culturali magazines) or those of Maurizio Gatti or Simon Harel concerning Amerindian literature.
