The stones were distinctly zonal and contained a nearly colourless portion with a pale yellowish tinge, bordered by a narrow intense green band and then a yellowish green zone. This zoning shown by specimens from Tanzania is quite different from the gradual shift in colouration (from very light to strong green) shown by the other grossulars (e.g. Kenya). All of those samples contained numerous fluid inclusions and tiny mineral inclusions as well. ER -
