Abstract

Česká společnost je považována v západní Evropě za jednu z nejkonzervativnějších, co týče role žen. Podobně je tomu i v katolické církvi, kde se ženy, protože nemohou být svěceny, ocitají mimo církevní hierarchii. Ale bylo tomu tak vždy? A co k tomu může „dodat“ středověké umění? Přednáška si klade za cíl přemýšlet nad tím jak umění (minulosti) zrcadlí sociální proměny, ale třeba i stigmatizaci.

Abstract (in English)

Czech society is considered one of the most conservative in Western Europe when it comes to the role of women. The same is true in the Catholic Church, where women, because they cannot be ordained, find themselves outside the church hierarchy. But has this always been the case? And what can medieval art "add" to this? This lecture aims to reflect on how art (of the past) mirrors social transformations, but perhaps also stigmatization.
