Abstract

The paper examined those phenomena of late antique aesthetics which seem to run parallel in different cultural spheres, namely literature, architecture, and the visual arts, thus speaking for – especially in the Latin West – a coherent cultural transformation triggered off by the onset of Christianity. The focus was especially on various manifestations of “cumulative aesthetics”, which are particularly symptomatic of the period and its new way of looking at things, such as cultural spoliation, poetics of the detail, and fragmentation patterns, as well as on the changing role of the recipients of art and the general movement towards an "open artifact".

Příspěvek se věnoval několika fenoménům pozdně antické estetiky, které se prolínají různými kulturními oblastmi, konkrétně literaturou, architekturou a vizuální kulturou, což - minimálně v západní části římského impéria - svědčí o relativně koherentní kulturní transformaci, vyvolané nástupem křesťanství. V centru pozornosti byly projevy tzv. kumulativní estetiky, zvláště příznačné pro pozdní antiku a její nový pohled na svět, tedy kulturní spoliace, fragmentarizace a poetika detailu. Právě tyto jevy vyvolaly změny v požadavcích na recipienty kulturních děl, stejně jako samotný posun směrem k "otevřenému dílu".
