Abstract

Příspěvek se zaměřuje na (para)heraldické koncese římského krále Václava IV. a římského císaře Zikmunda Lucemburského pro dynastii Gonzagů z Mantovy. V letech 1394, 1403 a 1432/33 získali mantovští vládci nové erby. Zároveň obdrželi také devízy, tj. osobní symboly/odznaky panovníků a jejich dvorských řádů – ledňáčka (Václav IV.) a draka (Zikmund Lucemburský). Autor se pokouší rekonstruovat tyto koncese, analyzovat jejich funkci a zasadit je do širšího kontextu pozdně středověké dvorské kultury.

Abstract (in English)

The paper is focused on (para)heraldic concessions for the Gonzaga dynasty of Mantua from Wenceslas IV, King of the Romans, and Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg. In 1394, 1403 and 1432/33, the Mantuan lords were granted new coats of arms. At the same time, they also received devices from these rulers, namely, the personal symbols/badges of the sovereigns and their courtly orders, which were the kingfisher (Wenceslas IV) and the dragon (Sigismund of Luxembourg). The author attempts to reconstruct these concessions, analyse their function and put them in the wider context of late medieval courtly culture.
