Abstract
The presentation focuses on differences in manner salience between the walking verbs in English and Czech, namely, the verbs go and walk and their nearest Czech equivalents, the verbs jít and kráčet. More specifically, it focuses on consequences that the differences have for the construal of the motion event in a goal-directed situation and for the position of the event in a broader situational frame.
