Abstract
Based on the Nihongi, we can assume two main directions of the Yayoi influx – from the west (Korean) and from the south(east) (Austro/Tai). These directions corroborate (and are, in turn, corroborated by) the hypothetical semantic shifts in the etymology of such Old Japanese words as kamɨy ‘deity’ and pyi ‘Sun. day’.
