Theatre as a metaphor is applied in contemporary humanities quite often. Anthropologists, sociologists, historians etc. use this metaphor to explain and analyse specific model of situations and actions. The most frequent is the metaphor of the Actor Playing a Role used by the Role Theory in sociology. But does this metaphor reflect the real state of research in the theatre studies? The contribution introduces the contemporary concepts of theatrical acting: Brechtian epic acting, Grotowski “holy actor”, or improv acting. The triadic models of acting are introduced as a defence against a simplification in non-theatrical sciences such as actor-author-inner spectator (I. Vyskočil), actor-text-character (E. Rozik), social identity-personal identity-identity of ego (E. Goffman), or sense of self-being on the stage-being within the role (K. S. Stanislavski).

Divadlo jako metafora je často aplikováno současnými humanitními vědami. Antropologové, sociologové, historici atd. používají tuto metaforu, aby vysvětlili a analyzovali specifické modely situací a akcí. Nejběžnější je metafora herce, který hraje roli, využívaná v sociologii v teorii rolí. Ale odpovídá tato metafora stavu výzkumu v současné teatrologii? Příspěvek představuje současné koncepty divadelního herectví: brechtovské epické herectví, Grotowského „svatého herce“ nebo herectví improvizace. Triadické modely herectví jsou představeny jako obrana před zjednodušováním v nedivadelních humanitních vědách jako například: herec-autor-vnitřní divák (I. Vyskočil), herec-text-postava (E. Rozik), sociální identita-osobní identita-identita ego (E. Goffman) nebo sebevnímání-existence na jevišti-existování v roli (K. S. Stanislavski).
