La présentation porte sur l'état actuel du théâtre libanais contemporain. Elle décrit les trois principaux obstacles qui empêchent le développement de cette forme d'art : la censure, le financement et le manque de documentation et de recherche. Elle illustre ensuite deux tendances innovantes au sein du mouvement théâtral au Liban : le monodrame et le collectif de théâtre. Il met spécifiquement en lumière l'engagement sociopolitique d'artistes et de groupes indépendants qui ont réussi à contourner les obstacles mentionnés et à créer un nouvel espace pour une expression artistique libre.

The presentation deals with the current state of the contemporary Lebanese theater. It outlines the three main obstacles preventing the development of the art form: censorship, funding, and the lack of documentation and scholarship. It then illustrates two innovative trends within the theatrical movement in Lebanon: The monodrama and the theater collective. It specifically sheds light on the socio-political engagement of independent artists and groups that have managed to bypass the mentioned obstacles and create a new space for free artistic expression.
