We present the Roman archaeofaunal initiative (RAF) which brings together a community of Roman archaeofauna data compilers and experts. In our presentation we will describe the efforts being made to achieve common data standards for Roman archaeofaunal data. The RAF initiative is linked to the Pandora initiative which brings together a network of historical and archaeological databases devoted to the study of the human past. Under the Pandora initiative an emphasis is placed on the recognition of the research and data collection efforts made by both data producers and data compilers. Pandora effectively functions as a hub where data compiled across separate individual databases is made readily visible and accessible to the wider research community.
