Abstract
Innovative teaching and evaluation methods are currently applied in education of two following subject at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University in Brno: Clinical trials and drugs life cycle and Clinical pharmacology. An integrated curriculum for next generation of biomedical students in the field of clinical trials was developed in the international cooperation. The output are interactive e-learning materials containing discussion boards, hands-on activities and self-tests, always accompanied by expert feedback. Materials are also designed for the contact teaching thanks to the teacher’s guide. For the Clinical pharmacology, e-learning study materials as a pre-class reading are being prepared together with standardized case reports. The international cooperation in these activities is highly appreciated as well as the international experts’ lectures incorporated in the subject’s syllabus. The innovation also concerns the final assessment of the students, where we implemented the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). Taken together, we are moving to learner-centered problem-based and, especially in the clinical pharmacology, team-based model and emphasize knowledge use and acquiring practical skills. We will also share detailed examples of particular issues.
