The monograph discusses the issues related to the role of critical raw materials for the economies of the Visegrad Group V4 countries with the coalification of individual raw materials occurring in deposits indigenous to these countries, as well as subject to import. Additionally, the strategic role of critical raw materials for the whole economy of the European Union has been emphasised. Chapter 1 presents the problem of critical raw materials in the Czech Republic. A broad description of the problem is given, both historically and currently. It also indicates the current raw material potential of the Czech Republic, taking into account aspects of environmental impact in the context of future exploitation or recovery of the raw materials indicated in this chapter.
