Abstract
The paper investigates whether language and music compete for processing resources during the perception and interpreting of a song. By reviewing the evidence bearing on a selection of experimental studies on the music-language interface it attempts to establish which representations become predominant and steer the interpretation in the song listening. Related issues, such as the question of domain-specificity and overlapping representations are addressed in an attempt to shed light on the processing of semantics of a song.
