Abstract
V originále
The Czech society shows different attitudes to refugees from Syria and Ukraine. In my contribution, I propose an answer to the followed question: “What shapes our attitudes towards accepting refugees from Syria and Ukraine? “I formulated four theses supporting the conclusion that not facts but beliefs and emotions shape our attitudes towards refugees. The myth of cultural distance/proximity, the labyrinthine problem understanding, the everyday stereotypes, and the disguised racism form our willingness to accept just the selected group of refugees.
