Abstract

Kniha mapuje třicet let jedinečného projektu, který zkoumá lidské zdraví a faktory, které jej ovlivňují. Původní Evropská longitudinální studie těhotenství a dětství ELSPAC (European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood) byla iniciovaná v 80. letech 20. století Světovou zdravotnickou organizací (WHO) v šesti evropských zemích. V České republice tato studie sledovala 5 738 dětí narozených v Brně a 1 851 dětí narozených ve Znojmě od těhotenství matky do dospělosti. Díky jejich odhodlání a spolupráci rodin, vědců, učitelů a lékařů se otevírá zcela nový pohled na lidské zdraví a umožňuje další výzkum. Tato kniha je poděkováním všem, kteří se účastnili původní studie ELSPAC, a také všem, kteří se zapojují do navazující studií CELSPAC.

Abstract (in English)

The book summarizes thirty years of a unique project investigating human health and the factors affecting it. The original European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood (ELSPAC) was initiated in the 1980s by the World Health Organization (WHO) in six European countries. In the Czech Republic, this study followed 5,738 children born in Brno and 1,851 children born in Znojmo from the mother’s pregnancy to adulthood. Thanks to the researchers’ determination and the cooperation of the families, scientists, teachers, and doctors, a whole new perspective on human health has been opened, and further research is possible. This book pays tribute to all the participants who joined the original ELSPAC study and those involved in the subsequent CELSPAC studies.
