Abstract

Shared experience of creating embroidery patterns on items of clothes or home accessories has been an established ritual in many cultural backgrounds. Each pattern communicates its own narrative and carries a unique imprint of the author. This kind of slow, hand-made art, has regained popularity in the last decade accross generations as an alternative to the instant digital art that can be produced in large numbers and available to anyone interested. In the workshop the participants will be invited to create a collaborative artwork in the technique of embroidery. Patterns produced by human minds as well as artificial intelligence will be available to inspire the creative and contemplative process. In discussion questions will be raised on the topics of getting lost in the code of embroidery and also on the potential of using AI technology in art pedagogy.

Abstract (in Czech)

Sdílená zkušenost s vytvářením výšivky na oděvech nebo bytových doplňcích je v mnoha kulturních prostředích zavedeným rituálem. Každý vzor sděluje svůj vlastní příběh a nese jedinečný otisk svého tvůrce. Tento druh pomalého, ručně tvořeného umění, si v posledním desetiletí opět získal popularitu napříč generacemi jako alternativa k instantnímu digitálnímu umění, které může být produkováno ve velké kvantitě a dostupné komukoli. Na workshopu budou účastníci pozváni k participaci na společném díle vytvořeném technikou ruční výšivky. Pro inspiraci v kreativním a kontemplativním procesu budou k dispozici vzory vytvořené lidmi i umělou inteligencí. V diskusi vyvstanou otázky na téma lze-li se ztratit v kódu ruční výšivky a také otázky potenciálu využití AI technologie ve výtvarné pedagogice.
