Abstract

Der Artikel macht auf eine bislang kaum bekannte Kunstsammlung aufmerksam, die von Karl Löw, einem kunstsinnigen Textilunternehmer jüdischer Herkunft, dank seiner beträchtlichen finanziellen Mittel zusammengetragen wurde. In weniger als einem Jahrzehnt, zwischen 1915 und 1923, gelang es ihm, bei Auktionen der Sammlungen prominenter Wiener und Budapester Sammler mehr als 60 Gemälde nicht nur von alten, insbesondere niederländischen Meistern des 17. Jahrhunderts, sondern auch von Wienern. Münchner und Düsseldorfer Maler des 19. Jahrhunderts zu ersteigern. Die genauen Aufzeichnungen, die er über seine Erwerbungen geführt hat, ermöglichen es heute, ihre Provenienz sicher zu identifizieren. Anhand von Text- und Bildinformationen erhaltener Auktionskataloge ist es möglich, sich ein konkretes Bild von der künstlerischen und thematischen Zusammensetzung der heute unwiederbringlich verstreuten Sammlungen zu machen, die nach 1919 im Wohnhaus der Löw in Helenín (Helenenthal) einen geeigneten Standort gefunden hatten. in der Nähe von Jihlava, zum größten Teil in einem eigens dafür eingerichteten Galerieraum.

Článek upozorňuje na dosud prakticky neznámou uměleckou sbírku, kterou díky svým nemalým finančním prostředkům sestavil Karl Löw, uměnímilovný textilní podnikatel židovského původu. Během necelé dekády, mezi lety 1915 a 1923, se mu podařilo na aukčních prodejích sbírek předních vídeňských a budapešťských sběratelů zakoupit více než 60 obrazů nejen starých, zejména holandských mistrů 17. století, ale i vídeňských mistrů 19. století, Mnichovští a düsseldorfští malíři. Přesné záznamy o svých akvizicích, které vedl, nyní umožňují bezpečně identifikovat jejich původ. Na základě textových a obrazových informací dochovaných aukčních katalogů si lze udělat konkrétní představu o výtvarné a tematické skladbě dnes již nenávratně rozptýlených sbírek, které po roce 1919 našly vhodné umístění v Löwově rezidenci v Heleníně u Jihlavy, z větší části ve speciálně zbudovaném galerijním prostoru.

Abstract (in English)

The article draws attention to a hitherto virtually unknown art collection, which, thanks to his considerable financial resources, was compiled by Karl Löw, an art-loving textile entrepreneur of Jewish origin. Over less than a decade, between 1915 and 1923, he managed to buy – at auction sales of the collections of prominent Viennese and Budapest collectors – more than 60 paintings of not just old, especially 17th century Dutch masters, but also 19th century Viennese, Munich and Düsseldorf painters. The precise records he maintained of his acquisitions now make it possible to securely identify their individual provenance. On the basis of textual and visual information of conserved auction catalogues, it is possible to get a specific idea of the artistic and thematic composition of now irreversibly scattered collections, which after 1919 had found a suitable location in the Löw’s residence in Helenín (Helenenthal) near Jihlava, for the most part in a specially commissioned gallery space.
