Abstract
Abstract (in English)
In addition to the well-known phenomenon of vernacular translations from Latin into vernacular languages, in the variegated world of the late Middle Ages one also encounters vernacular translations that can be defined as horizontal, between Romance languages, which are generally less studied than vernacular translations from Latin. The paper will present some cases (Faits des Romanes, Fiore di virtù, vernacular translations from Seneca into French and Italian, and vernacular translations from Cicero into Italian and Castilian) that show the permeability of the boundaries between the Romance literatures of the first centuries and that confirm the need for a wide-ranging and multidisciplinary approach, as is traditional in the field of Romance philology.
