Abstract
The purpose of this talk is to present how the Fides sculpture, probably created in the late 9th century and ornamented again around the year 1000, can be seen as a striking example of the monks' policy of representation. In addition to a desire to capitalize gold, however, it is primarily to promote (or recreate) the memory of the site and to establish its legend.
