Abstract
The theme interrogates the impact borders and boundaries have had on communities of mainly North America as well as Anglophone, Francophone and Hispanic countries and communities in the postcolonial world. Ranging from cultural and literary topics, the conference is concerned with ideas of identity, and how internal sense of selfhood complements or collides with external projections of created boundaries. The primary concern is to contrast the historical circumstance of one's place in a specific community as opposed to the subsequent period of globalization and contemporary societal expectations and pressures on individual and systemic levels.
