Chrám Hagia Sofia patří k nejpoutavějším výtvorům předmoderní doby. V poslední době se o chrámu hodně mluvilo vzhledem k hojně kritizované proměně muzea v mešitu. Tato událost, za niž nese přímou odpovědnost prezident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, je bezesporu nešťastná. Světové veřejnosti však alespoň připomněla význam Hagie Sofie pro kulturu lidstva.

In English

Hagia Sophia is one of the most captivating creations of the pre-modern era. The temple has been much talked about recently due to the much criticised transformation of the museum into a mosque. This event, for which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan bears direct responsibility, is undoubtedly unfortunate. However, it has at least reminded the world of the importance of Hagia Sophia to the culture of mankind.
