In my contribution, I survey his reception in the texts of early Christian apologists, focusing on (a) his inner voice (δαιμόνιον) and prophecies; (b) his moral qualities (or lack thereof) and his death; and (c) his profession of ignorance and the unusual practice of Socratic swearing.
