Abstract

V originále

Access to modern contraception is a human right. It can be undermined – and it is - by financial and economic barriers. Here, reimbursement and coverage within national health systems is the best solution. But this access can also be undermined in a more subtle, more cunning way. It can be undermined by spreading prejudices, false information and lies concerning contraception. This presentation discusses the anti-choice forces spreading these rumours and comments on a more general clash of spreading information versus misinformation. It concludes by stating that when trying to support and fight for access to modern contraception as a human right, we must fight – alongside financial and economic barriers – also informational barriers. Failing to do so will increase abortion rates and unintended pregnancies with their ethical implications.
