Abstract

In the original language

The inheritability of online gaming accounts is a relatively new issue in the field of succession law. The nature of online gaming accounts raises questions about the extent to which they can be inherited and whether such inheritance includes the right to continue active use of the account. In this paper, we examine the legal framework for the inheritability of online gaming accounts in Czech and Austrian law. We analyze case law on the issue of inheritability of digital assets, as well as contractual provisions and consumer protection considerations. Finally, we discuss the practical implications of the inheritability of online gaming accounts and potential conflicts that may arise between heirs and game providers.
