Abstract

El inglés y el español están en contacto constante y se influyen mutualmente a nivel geográfico y virtual. Con el número de hispanohablantes creciendo en cada instante, la lengua, la cultura y la comunidad se ve y escucha ahora más que nunca. El contacto intenso entre las dos culturas y lenguas provoca la creación de nuevas estructuras, a veces híbridas, que forman parte de la lengua sincrónica y no suelen estar codificadas ni reconocidas por las autoridades correspondientes. Con el tiempo, algunas de estas palabras, frases o expresiones desaparecen, otras persisten y logran formar parte del corpus estándar. El presente trabajo analiza las tendencias emergentes que aparecen en forma de hashtags utilizados en el internet. Gracias a las redes sociales, la cultura popular y la globalización, las expresiones se difunden con rapidez y eficacia. Varias plataformas sociales sirven para la recopilación de datos con periodicidad mensual. Los hashtags seleccionados tienen origen en letras de canciones de artistas latinos populares: Bad Bunny y Karol G. Análisis cuantitativo y estadística descriptiva se aplican para evaluar las tendencias y determinar cuáles son relativamente efímeras y cuáles consiguen o tienen potencial para formar parte del corpus español estándar.

Abstract (in English)

English and Spanish are in constant contact and influence one another geographically and virtually. With the number of Spanish speakers growing constantly, the language, culture and community is now seen and heard more than ever. Intense contact between the two cultures and languages leads to the creation of new, sometimes hybrid, structures, which are part of the synchronic language and are often not codified or recognized by the relevant authorities. Over time, some of these words, phrases or expressions disappear, other persist and become part of the standard corpus. This paper analyzes emerging trends that appear in the form of hashtags used on the Internet. Thanks to social networks, popular culture and globalization, the newly formed expressions spread quickly and effectively. Various social platforms are used to collect data monthly. The selected hashtags originate from song lyrics of two popular Latin artists: Bad Bunny and Karol G. Quantitative analysis and descriptive statistics are applied to evaluate trends and determine which ones which are relatively short-lived and which have the potential to become part of the standard Spanish corpus.
