Abstract

V překladatelské komunitě platí, že by umělecký překladatel měl překládat jen do svého rodného jazyka. Nicméně je někdy dobré pravidla porušit a pokusit se přeložit úryvek z beletristického textu do jazyka cizího. Umožňuje to lépe si uvědomit některé překladatelské principy a postupy při hledání překladatelských řešení. A ještě k tomu zjistit případné mezery v znalosti cizího jazyka. Tyto možnosti se naskytly účastníkům workshopu, který byl věnován uměleckému překladu z češtiny do ruštiny. Zkusili jsme spolu přeložit úryvek ze soutěžního textu, který vybrala letošní porota mezinárodní soutěže Susanny Roth, určené začínajícím zahraničním překladatelům.

Abstract (in English)

Literary translators agree that they should translate into their own native languages only. However, sometimes it is good to break the rules and try to translate a piece of fiction into a foreign language. This allows one to become more aware of some translation principles and practices when looking for translation solutions. In addition, it helps to identify gaps in one's knowledge of the foreign language. These were the opportunities offered to the participants of the workshop which concerned literary translation from Czech into Russian. We tried to translate an excerpt from the competition text selected by the jury of this year's Susanna Roth International Award for beginner translators.
